Impersonation Fraud Alert
It has come to our attention that professional scammers have been impersonating Crooked Lane Books / Alcove Press employees. We take this issue seriously and suggest exercising caution when responding to unsolicited emails. Scammers may claim to be editors, publicists, agents, or other publishing professionals, and may steal our logo or the names of our employees in order to solicit fraudulent deals and services to hopeful writers and job seekers. Please beware of third-party service providers claiming to act on our behalf. You should also look out for misspelled names, typos, and other suspicious behavior.

Crooked Lane Books / Alcove Press will never request a fee in exchange for services. 

We will never ask you to provide your Social Security Number, bank account information, passwords, or any other personal information and/or money as part of interviewing, accepting a job, or starting employment. We will also never reach out via social media.

Do not click any unknown links without confirming who sent them, what they are, and where they lead.While our books are distributed by Penguin Random House Publisher Services, our authors will not ever be contacted by anyone from Penguin Random House.

All company correspondence will come from email addresses at the following domains
exclusively:

• @crookedlanebooks.com
• @alcovepress.com

If you are contacted by someone at any other email domain, such as Gmail, Outlook, AOL, or Yahoo, they do not belong to this organization.

How can I order a book from Crooked Lane?

All our titles are distributed through Penguin Random House Publisher Services. If you are a librarian or bookseller, please order through them.

Is there a way to send feedback on a book?

We are always happy to receive feedback. Please send any thoughts or comments to inquiries@crookedlanebooks.com.

Can I get a replacement for a damaged book?

If you have purchased a damaged book, you should return/exchange it at the place of purchase.

How do I find an agent?

To find an agent, we recommend using one of the many databases available online– Poets & Writers, QueryTracker, and AgentQuery are all excellent resources.

How can I arrange for an author to sign books at my bookstore?

To arrange for an event at your bookstore, please send the details of your request, including the author’s name, the name and location of your bookstore, and the type of event you would like to arrange, to publicity@crookedlanebooks.com.

How do I request a review copy of a book?

To request a review copy, please send your request to publicity@crookedlanebooks.com. Make sure to include the title of the book(s), as well as your name, address, phone number, and the publication for which you are a reviewer.

Are any books available in audio format?

Many of our titles are available in audio book format wherever books are sold.

Can I use an excerpt of a book?

To obtain permission for use of any Crooked Lane materials, please send the details of your request to marketing@crookedlanebooks.com, including the selection of text and the purpose for which you wish to use it.
